Welcome to Halstow

At Halstow we are totally committed to "Acceptance without Exception".  We welcome people from all faiths and all countries without exception.  We welcome families from all cultures and all communities without exception.  We welcome gender diversity and the LGBT+ community without exception.  Inclusion, equity and equality are at the very heart of Halstow.

Halstow Primary School is a creative, dynamic and innovative school that works in close partnership with its community to provide the very best educational experiences for our children. We are in the heart of the historic Royal Borough of Greenwich and in close proximity to the centre of London and all of the rich cultural diversity that it has to offer. We are an inclusive community, committed to providing an emotionally and physically safe environment where all children enjoy and achieve. We ensure all children experience a broad and balanced curriculum, nurturing and developing the whole child. Physical Education and the Arts permeate our curriculum and we have a fantastic orchestra and choirs who perform to a wide range of audiences. The quality of our Arts provision has been recognised by the Arts Council, awarding Halstow the Arts Mark Gold.

Children are at the centre of all that we do and we listen carefully to their opinions and perspectives to ensure that learning has purpose and meaning. Our school values underpin the great relationships that develop at school and support us in exploring the issues and dilemmas that we encounter in our everyday lives. Our values also support us in developing the calm, respectful and collaborative community that is evident in every classroom across the school. We also develop close partnerships with parents, valuing their views and support in order to provide the very best opportunities for all children. We strive to know our community as best we can and use this knowledge to plan a curriculum that celebrates our locality and draws on the rich cultural heritage that is on our doorstep.

Teaching at Halstow is outstanding and draws on the most up to date thinking and research to ensure it continues to stretch and challenge children’s cognitive abilities. We ensure that children have the levels of literacy and numeracy to equip them with the skills to continue their learning journey and achieve economic and personal fulfillment. High self-esteem, confidence, happiness and motivation characterise learners at Halstow, preparing them well for life in the 21st century and enabling them to embrace the challenges and opportunities that open up to them.

As a Teaching School, we work closely with our alliance partners to develop the quality of teaching across the borough and also orchestrate teacher training for over 35 student teachers in partnership with Goldsmiths, University of London.

We are part of The Compass Partnership of Schools, an innovative and forward-thinking group of schools comprising of Alderwood, Deansfield, Halstow, Horn Park, South Rise, Willow Dene and Wingfield.  In July 2017, we converted to multi-academy trust status, further strengthening and securing our unique partnership. The Partnership offers immense opportunities to develop the quality of provision, sharing of good practice and professional growth.
