Year 1 & 2

Welcome to our learning in year 1 & 2 - Autumn 1

This term the topic in both Year 1 and 2 is Pirates.

Both year groups will be reading A New Home for a Pirate, by Ronda Armitage, of which they are writing a retell.  Both year groups will also be writing a setting description, thinking about the five senses and how they can use adjectives to describe what they see, hear, etc.

Both year groups will also be making 3D islands in DT; they will be designing a treasure map and making these come to life using junk modelling techniques.

In Spanish, both Year 1 and Year 2 will be learning how to introduce themselves, and in PE they will be learning ball skills and gymnastics.

RE will be learning about Hinduism, focussing on learning about the use of symbols, as well as the celebration of Diwali; what it means and how it is celebrated.
